Dr. Mel Lindbloom

Dr. Mel Lindbloom

Dr. Mel Lindbloom was hired by Auburn Schools Superintendent Hayes Holman to come to Auburn and open the region's first community college. When Mel helped open Green River's doors to students in 1965, he never imagined that today the college would reach over 10,000 students throughout our region and the world. However, Dr. Lindbloom did have the foresight to understand that by creating the GRCC Foundation, a vehicle was put in place to help the college increase its capacity as it grew over time. One of the ways that the Foundation has been able to deliver on this promise is through planned gifts. Dr. Lindbloom, along with Clark Townsend, and members of the Foundation Board worked with members of the community to make provisions in their wills and estate plans. In doing so, Mel was convinced himself and has made provisions in his estate that will permanently endow the Mel and Roma Lindbloom Scholarship.
